almost every time i am online (which is a lot), Gentle_Loud is afk. i almost never see them active online, and more afk players on at a time = more lag for the ones who are actually playing online. i recommend an afk-timer set to an hour, so people like him can't be afk for hours at a time. even according to luigi's post of most active players, he was active for 547.75 hours in january (out of 744 hours in the month), meaning he was on for a total of 22 days total last month. again, out of that time, i almost never see him active.

im almost always online. i say out of the the 547 hours he was actually online, he was only active about 100 of those hours. out of my 208 hours online, i was probably active 180 of that

Loud is active quite a lot, different time zones etc. or he's busy on a project so doesn't chat much. Also I doubt very much these few afk'ers are making the server lag. If it wasn't for people keeping some of their farms ticking over there would be less items in peoples shops. Maybe more should be looked at the server rebooting every couple of days or something to help clear lag. Lag may also be caused from active people traveling all over the place loading more map area or even very bad redstone setups that drain resources, but I am not a redstone expert, not even a novice redstoner, I'm pretty crap at redstone.

Afk players are good because they are usually only liable to leave if their connection times out. This is good because it keeps the player count up and makes the server appear more active for new players that join.

Also; afk players shouldn't cause any form of lag... unless they are at a farm of some sort, in which case an admin will either destroy the farm or kick the player.

belgnbor is correct; Gentle_Loud, from what I know at least, is working on a guardian farm at the moment, which generally takes a mass amount of time and effort to build
