What do you think of the minecraft updates now? Are they better worse give me your opinion? |

IMO they've basically just been free DLCs since 1.9. 1.9 was the last update that was really vital to the game (even if no-one liked what it changed) and since then it's just been extra content to keep players on.1.10 added barely anything except blocks that look like bone and meat. 1.11 was pretty cool. I liked the new features, and they felt in-style. However, nothing really changed much - I remember my favourite part of the update when I found the snapshot was that you could use levitation to make balloons, I found the rest to be so boring. If llamas were more complex, I'd like this update a lot more. 1.12 was good for aesthetics (I love the new yellow) but some of the changes were too extreme (light blue for example, which went from pale to glowing). Didn't really change much. 1.13 was a great update, and there's really nothing I can criticise, except maybe that cold oceans need more than just kelp and seagrass. 1.14 is more divisive. I hate the new textures, personally. I don't like some of the old textures - end rods purpur "bit" is way too vibrant, and gold blocks look like something from beta - but the new ones feel like a completely new style, except maybe for dark prismarine (which I might just add into the V1 resource pack, because I think it's a genuine improvement). Illager outposts are a great addition if you ask me; it makes the world feel like a living, moving environment, not just where the player's been dropped in. However, I feel like the raids are underwhelming; they should happen kinda regularly by default, but spawn immediately with the Bad Omen to make the illagers feel like active threats rather than events, and need more complexity and challenge - say, by adding demolitionist illagers to make wall design more important. The new furnaces annoy me; I specifically dislike many Minecraft mods that add similar features, because I like that Minecraft is simple, forcing you to plan and design to do greater tasks. Adding "better" tools is a huge cop-out - and yes, I know that the smoker and blast furnace only work on some blocks, but just getting one of each is enough to get rid of multiple furnaces. Same for barrels. I do like a few of the new containers though, particularly the cartography table (even if it does need some more 3d-ness). Pandas and bamboo aren't that big; same with foxes and lanterns. The changes to village/r mechanics are mostly positive. I like that farms are spread out to look more natural, and that the villages are redesigned to look less trashy (though they still don't look great - some further variation would be fun). The new professions system isn't too concerning to me, but I'm disappointed that villager still have the same pointless trades; there won't be a single point in a player's game where he has emeralds but needs a stone axe. I'd swap this out for items such as large amounts of farm produce, minerals or better tools. This could also be a good place to add (randomised) immersion; maybe the librarian sells a written book about a folk tale of an adventurer, or maybe the toolsmith sells a damaged axe named "Blood-Stained Axe" that deals greater damage to illagers. The same goes for the travelling merchant; I'd love to see him selling some kind of lore-ridden armour item or MHF heads (this would be a nice way to integrate more heads into survival) than random, easily found items. Also, I want to be able to have the merchant's llamas' carpets without stealing the entire llama. It looks cool, and I want it now. EDIT: also 1.14 is buggy as hecc |

I like most things about the new updates minus the following:-Endermen cant see you staring at them from afar anymore -Zombies can't see you from a mile away anymore -Glazed terracotta was added -Silverfish don't constantly move anymore -Loki owns the server -You can't cram infinite mobs in a 1x1 space anymore -Horses, donkeys, and mules suddenly look like a lazy highschooler made them for a comm tech class that they're only taking because every other course was full. -Herobrine was removed -Too many textures changed at once. I feel like I have a texture pack and I keep trying to set it back to default to no avail. |
