Hey
as someone who was admin for a year i’d like to say that admin should have more permissions. At the moment admin is more of a rank for long serving staff- which goes against not only the definition if admin but ultimately what an admin should be.
First off, to handle these permissions, they need to be better trained. Although it’s usually contexual I find that different admins are either not harsh enough or too harsh. They just need to have a conversation to decide on a standard.
Ok, so here is what an admin is now- a mod with a few more commands and more say.
Here is what an admin should be- someone who not only acts as a regular staff member but has access to promoting donators, fixing bugs or glitches, adding features and managing forums. |

Admin has pretty much all commands on the server, except permissions that would enable them to have power over other admins, which in my opinion is what head admin (and owner and co-owner) is for. I think it's probably fine to say that Admins are like an extended version of mod that keeps moderators in line and helps them out, because moderators are the lowest level of staff, although I think you're wrong in saying that admins are inexperienced because they shouldn't be.
Admins can't promote donators because they don't know if someone has actually donated or not, only I know that. And as for managing forums, adding features and fixing bugs and glitches, there are far too many admins to all be involved in that kind of thing. The moderators would then be overstretched in their duties.
The staff team is balanced such that there is an even distribution of power across levels. If there are too many people with the same amount of power on one level, then anarchy could ensue if there is a disagreement. There has to be a rank between the moderator rank, which offers the most basic set of staff commands, and the ultimate power of operators that can have every permission, and can demote other staff members and take over the server. So there is the admin rank, which has every permission, but does not have the ultimate power to demote (and promote) other staff members and take over the server (except I think admins can demote rogue mods). |
