It has come to my attention that x-ray has become a bigger and bigger problem recently (image below shows a bit of this) and I don't really like the way it is being handled. I believe that people who x-ray, no matter who they are, should be punished more. People can get away with it easily if they are well known in the community, all it takes is a few "+1"s and some rebelling or protesting on the server and they could be well on their way to at most a 30 day ban. If people really need ores they shouldn't resort to hacking.Instead go ask for help from people, go mining with people, use tnt or set up a beacon. X-rayers should not be let off so lightly and in my opinion should have AT LEAST a 2 month ban. People find it very easy to seem apologetic but wont have changed. https://i.gyazo.com/14254477bdc8f5231b0d9cd9d0d15d68.png |

There are many more appeals to be unbanned for x-ray but I didn't want to spam links (can't get pictures to load for some reason) |

-1 Of course xraying is bad and you may even call it harmful, but the level at which it affects the server is so insignificant that in no way should it deserve such a harsh punishment of 2 months ban, even 1 month seems a bit of a stretch. What difference does it make if some kid has diamond armor 1 hour before someone else, what real advantage is gained. Besides what gives you the authority to be some kind of moral police or ethical police while you go around spawn killing afk people with their pvp protection off and stealing all their gear, that seems more of an unfair advantage than xraying would as you basically did nothing to obtain a large amount of items and gear. I do not condone the use of xray, but it should not be punished so harshly if someone makes the mistake of using it. |

I'd say 1 month and don't unban anyone for xray, no matter how sorry or liked in the community they are |

+1I think xraying should be a permanent ban, maybe slightly less for well known players, but still very severe like 2 months or more. It's the worst form of cheating and completely unacceptable. It's absurd that people continue to xray when they can buy ores very cheaply at player shops. |

luigi unbanned an xrayer one day after his ban then is saying it should be a perm ban. The double standards are off the charts! |

+1I agree that a 2 month or more ban is warranted, and I don't care if the player is popular or "well known". Well known players are the ones that set examples for other players. If we let them off easy, people will A.) Think hacking isn't a big deal and/or B.) Get mad that they got special treatment. All players should be treated the same way. Period. |

@Karbs ok then, I'll just go xray 500 odd diamonds with my fortune 3 pick and hand them out for free. Is that ok? |

Eidhan my "appeal" wasn't to get unbanned. Read the "appeal". |

I don't believe it should be permanent, but I don't believe it should not be shortened either, even more so when it is the regulars. I think the ban lengths and how they are handled should be looked at for many offenses, it seems silly to perm ban someone for minor grief and temp ban someone for xray. Just by going through some of the appeals, on some it takes ages for a staff member to reply, some are left wondering why they were banned. After a certain amount of time the appeal should be either denied or unbanned. Just because the person is unknown or is new and don't get many +1's shouldn't mean their appeal just sits in limbo for ages. Staff need to be more interactive in ban appeals and on some not so nasty. Stay impartial and just state the facts. Set timelines for staff to reply to a ban appeal and a time line for a staff member to make a decision on an appeal. |
