Staff Reapplications

I felt if drivers had to retake their tests, 40% of them in my town would lose their licence and the roads would be that much safer. Someone today came up with the similar idea of making current staff reapply for their rank. If staff reapply, people may restate their opinions of staff now that they've seen them in action, and mods can learn what they need to improve on without getting offended and ignoring the follower's ideas, as some of them tend to feel they're already good enough now that they have the position as staff.

while this is a good idea, I don't think it should apply to newer staff promoted >100 days ago.

Ive actually been considering an idea like this already, for admins

So while i dont disagree, I think that if its something I enforce, these applications shouldnt mean a staff is demoted if they get a lots of minus ones on their reapplication, as they would be subject to a ton of player bias from people who are upset they got punished or argued with and similar such matters

I think right now, the staff team is overdue for a change. All staff should have to reapply, excluding James and Luigi cause they’re fuckin’ amazing. Also Loki, the apps would be easy to tell if someone’s voting because they are pissed off for being banned or if the person is actually giving criticism to improve, or their thoughts on the person. You’d easily be able to tell which votes are serious, and which ones are just ‘spite votes’.

+1 its a great idea. many staff have been inactive and i think most of them are doing a great job at being staff but maybe a revamp would be a good idea and to see how people think of staff now then before they had applied and got the job.

To clarify my suggestion based on comments:
•All staff would make a reapplication, no exeptions to time or rank.
•This is more for the community telling how the staff member can improve to be desirable.
•Staff who refuse all claims and fail to improve whatsoever should not see promotion, and if the case is more prominent, consider warning of demotion.

Most of us have irl issues we deal with. Our server "jobs" are already fairly stressful on a daily basis. many of us don't have the time/desire to continually reapply for a position we're doing for no personal gain at all.

^ theres that as well

Presinus lemme explain my original idea and see what you think, since this is your post.

Rewriting applications can be a pain. My idea was to every so often when time allowed it, have a 1on1 "followup" interview with staff, focusing on admins. The purpose behind this would be to make sure they still have a grasp on things, and have no issues etc etc. Basically,a checkup. It will allow me to do the things you are asking, but itll be just me. So for review from the players, people can simply continue leaving it on their mod app after promotion, or create a post in the general section addressed to one or more staff members.

-1 we have a shortage of staff as it is so the possibility of demoting existing staff that are doing a good job is not viable.
If players have concerns about a staff member they can make a complaint, these are assessed on a case by case basis.
A good point though is the lack of positive feedback staff members may face, which this provides an avenue for. However there's nothing stopping players from making topics in the general section for staff appreciation comments. Some staff members have previously done this where they made a topic about themselves in the general section to get feedback.

@Fatman: Reapplying is as simple as copy/paste/minor edits. No stress at all.

@Loki: The problem is the staff themselves don't see anything wrong with themselves, so interviewing them would solve nothing. On top of that, the admins by their time are already somewhat-developed -- the mods are the ones who need development. (Though if this suggestion gets disproved, please do carry on with your idea, as it's better than not doing anything)

@Luigi: Anyone who posts in the complaints gets shot down for being whiny, or people say "they were only doing their job" without giving it any real thought. Also if they are doing well, they won't be demoted. At the end of the day, Loki still has the last word over who gets demoted; he'll just have better info to base his decision off of. It's not like we're gonna demote everyone until reapplications are reapproved.

Honestly this would be a pretty good solution for staff members who get too cocky, it would be easy, and simple.

^ You do know when Loki and Luigi have both pretty much -1'd then there's no reason to even vote.
