Non-Negotiable Bans

Currently, bans are really easy on people. Lets say that you x-ray and get the usual 1 month ban, but as long as you say "hi, me xray but sorry!" *Ban gets reduced to 7 days.* *Ban revoked.* This leniency shouldn't happen. I believe, any ban under 6 months should not be negotiable. To me, permanent bans can be appealed, and 6 months or over bans can be brought up for a staff vote for re-negotiation of shortening the sentence. These are my thoughts, and they can be expound upon by y'all, but these are my current thoughts.

My thoughts on this are as follows:
Permbans are generally for a more serious action and are therefore shortened less often, due to lack of genuine sincerity in the apology or evidence supporting past actions that compound the one that got the person banned, resulting in their permaban being a lesson being taught due to a lack of learning on the part of the problem player, who usually has failed to learn from past incidents, or blatantly ignored the stated rules to do something extreme.

Smaller bans are for smaller incidents, meaning we arent as super strict about reductions. A genuine apology or realization is enough, for a month long ban. A weeklong ban is often short enough that a ban reduction doesnt really do much since it can take a couple days to come to a decision, meaning they are usually told to wait it out.

TLDR: I disagree with your idea regarding the 6 month thing.
HOWEVER
I agree that perhaps its too easy to get unbanned multiple times for multiple small incidents. The toxicity rule is meant to help with this to a degree, but sometimes it falls short . It covers things such as extreme rudeness, multiple mutes/jails, etc. It seems to fail at people who, over a long period of time, receive multiple bans or more serious punishments such as xray bans (the most commonly mentioned one, i feel.)

Having said that, I think I will discuss all this with the other staff, particularly the other OPs. I think a better log system is needed, such that players who receive punishments can have punishment history looked up, and a system be followed along the lines of "xrayed once: normal ban time appropriate for amount xrayed. Xrayed twice: normal ban time + "interest" or "tax" ban time for second offense. third time: permbann regardless of xray size due to repeat offenses" or something like that. It will take time, but if a system is determined and implemented, I will announce it in the general section of the forums, and on the discord.

I also ask other staff to give any further words they have on this, players too. This issue has been raised a few times, and with me hopefully being alive again soon, I think some things can be adjusted.

•Permbans are a super lazy solution and imo shouldn't be used unless the player did something extreme like give themself OP, cause destruction safezones while jailed, etc.
•I don't think anyone ever returns after a 6-month ban. I think 6 months should be the limit for ban time regardless of appeals.
